COASTAL SHIPPING PASSENGERS’ RIGHTS, JUNE 2016

The coastal shipping passengers’ rights according to L. 3709/2008 as amended and in force, are recorded in detail in a special publication released by the Consumer Protection Center (CPC).

This updated and very useful publication (since 28.6.2016) includes answers to questions of maritime transport service users regarding their rights arising in various cases e.g. such as when: 

•The carrier does not give them the place or cabin on that ship and journey shown on the ticket

•They wish to cancel their ticket

•In case of departure delay or during the voyage the ship is damaged or malfunctioning of the carrier’s fault.

•The ship is detained due to weather or trip is canceled with the carrier’s responsibility

This publication contains also instructions for the procedure to be followed and the recovery time any person entitled to compensation, as well as, submission of complaints and grievances. Additionally there are specific rates for products sold in ships such as coffee, bottled water and sandwiches.
