Ceremony “Professor Klimis Navridis” Scholarships in Bucharest
For the 5th consecutive year, the opening of the winter semester in the Department of Modern Greek Studies was marked by “Professor Klimis Navridis” scholarships, that were granted by Mr. Efthymios Navridis to three distinguished students in the crowded event hall of the University of Bucharest.
In a warm ceremony honored by the presence of the Ambassador of Greece until today Mr. Vasilios Papadopoulos, the presence of the new Ambassador of Greece Mrs. Sofia Grammata and the presence of the Ambassador of Cyprus Mr. Filippos Kritiotis.
The Dean of the Scholl Mr. Liviu Franga, who was deeply moved as the time of his retirement is on the way, talked warmly about the specific influence of the Greek Scholars and Businessmen on the stimulation of every Greek element in Romania and on the development of the education and the culture in the Country and thanked Mr. Efthymios Navridis for his support.
Mr. Efthymios Navridis, in his turn, thanked the grant-holders and the Dean, the President of the Department Mrs. Laura Sitaru and the Professor of the Department Mr. Tudor Dinu for the acceptance of his sponsorship, which, as he said, honors him especially.
Before closing his speech, Mr. Efthymios Navridis encouraged the grant-holders Lulia-Elena Lonel, Andreea -Madalina Mindilica and Bianca- Florentina Vedeami – Visineanu to continue the same way of excellence which only advantages can bring to them personally and to their beautiful and welcoming country.
In memory of the day, Mr. Efthymios Navridis gave the grant-holders a book with the poetry collection “Orientations” (Prosanatolismoi) of the great Greek Poet Odysseas Elytis, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1979 form the Swedish Academy. In addition, Mr. Efthymios Navridis gave the grant-holders a book of the Greek Ambassador Mr. Vasilis Papadopoulos with the title “The language as a vehicle of culture” which the Ambassador very kindly signed for the grant-holders.
