A NEW HEAD OF THE GREEK EMBASSY IN TIRANA TAKES THE BATON, JUNE 2016

With an honorary award in recognition of his outstanding services in this position the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Leonidas Rokanas completed his term in Tirana. Mr. Rokanas has been appointed as head of the Greek embassy in Beijing.

The award has been presented to Mr. Rokanas by the President of the Republic of Albania Mr. Bujar Nishani in an official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace with the presence of the Parliamentary Speaker Mr. Ilir Meta, the Minister of European Integration Mrs. Kladja Gjosha, members of the Parliament, Ambassadors and accredited members of the diplomatic corps. Mr. Nishani presented this award as a token of “appreciation of diplomatic activity, and the valuable contribution of Mr. Rokanas to the promotion of bilateral relations between the Hellenic and Albanian Republic, the generous support of the European integration process of Albania, as well as, the strengthening and deepening of friendly relations between the two countries”. 

Mr. Nishani during the award ceremony also stated that “It is a great pleasure and a privilege to express on my part and on behalf of Albanian citizens many thanks, appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding contribution of Mr. Rokanas, a diplomat who worked for the mutual benefits of his Country and Albania. I could say much about the activities of Mr. Ambassador in Albania during his four year term, however, I would like to emphasize the fact that he worked mostly for the friendship between the two countries and the two populations.”

On the occasion of his departure from the Albanian capital, Ambassador Mr. Leonidas Rokanas hosted a farewell reception, where Mr. Efthymios Navridis was invited and attended, on 13.6.2016.

It should be finally noted that Head of our Embassy in Tirana has been appointed the highly capable Ambassador Mrs. Eleni Sourani.
